What is your suggestion and how will it work?
- The current rank application template might need some changes. It's fine as it is now, but it's been the same for quite a while and it could be better. I've spoken on this topic with some other community members and we all agreed on the same thing: some questions should be merged, or at least made more different to each other while still asking for relevant info about the applicant filling them out.
Here are the main 3 that we focused on:
- What are your strengths?
- Why are you eligible for this promotion?
- What do you think you can bring to the community if you were promoted?
The first 2 especially are very similar to each other. The first one asks the applicant to list their strengths while the second one asks them why they are eligible for a promotion. Both ask for positive values in the applicant which will help them get the rank, and they could either be merged together somehow, or made more different to each other while still asking for relevant information. I suggest something along the lines of "What positive qualities do you have that would make you eligible for the role?".
The last question also has some similarities to the other two, but not as much. I believe it could be left as it is now, or maybe made a bit more different like suggested above. I'd also say that from what I've observed, people seem to understand it in two different ways - what could you literally "bring" to the server (with answers such as activity etc.), and how you getting a moderator role can contribute positively to it.
The application might as well need a complete overhaul at some point, but it's fine for now.
What are the advantages of your suggestion?
- This should make it less of a headache for applicants to list their positive qualities when they've already listed them a few questions prior and should hopefully help admins get even more relevant information about the applicant if this suggestion is implemented correctly.
What are the disadvantages of your suggestion?
- I honestly don't see any.
