Note: You can use any program you desire, this tutorial however will use LiveSplit and OBS.
How to record your speedrun and set a timerAuthor of document: Devilsent
Firstly, I would recommend you to use OBS to record and LiveSplit to time yourself.
You can get OBS from here: obsproject.com/
And LiveSplit from there: livesplit.org/downloads/
Extract those wherever you want on your PC and start OBS first
Setting up OBS
Your main window will look like this (not not in French);
Start by adding a new source here with the + and choose game capture.
In the window that follows, select ClassiCube as your window to record.
There are other parameters such as recording your cursor that you might want to disable. Click “Ok”
Setting up LiveSplit
Start LiveSplit.exe then right click on the little timer window and go to settings.
Here, I recommend you to set your shortcuts especially the start/split one. For the example, I will use “1” to start and “3” to stop.
Finishing Touches
Now that you’ve got your timer all set, go back to OBS and this time, add a new source that will record the LiveSplit window.
Make sure to drag it above the ClassiCube source in the hierarchy or else it won’t appear above your game.
In the preview window, drag the timer source wherever you want it to show up; it doesn’t matter where your actual timer window is. I recommend you to play in fullscreen to avoid resolutions shenanigans.
Now all that’s left to do is to set your OBS hotkeys to start and stop the recording!
Go to File -> Settings -> Shortcuts and set the start and stop ones.
Now you’re all set! Get ready on the map’s spawn then press the key to record (2) and press the timer start key (1) as soon as you start moving. Don’t forget to stop the timer and the record at the end!
When you’re down, you should upload the video online and submit your run at www.speedrun.com/newblood/individual_levels ! It’s pretty straightforward from here.
