So, you've just gotten yourself permanently punished (muted or banned). Congratulations. You probably messed up badly to get to this point, but unless it's a very rare case, you should be able to appeal your punishment and be allowed to talk/play again. This post will go over the basics of how to make a good appeal, what to do and what not to do.
When can I appeal?
You can appeal a minimum of 2 weeks after you've gotten punished. For example, if I were to be punished on the first of February, I'd be able to appeal on the fifteenth (or any time later). Just add 14 days to your initial punishment date (or time since your last evasion - read below) and you'll get the date you can appeal on.
Two weeks haven't passed yet. What can I do?
Most important of all, do not evade. Evading means logging on the server using a different account to circumvent your main account's initial punishment. You should never do this, as it will only get you in bigger trouble and will greatly reduce your chances of your appeal being accepted. Staff have necessary tools to determine whether you've been evading or not, but they might ask you questions as well. Be as honest as possible. Questions may be asked for a variety of reasons, but the most common one is because you share a network with other players. In this case, explain the connection between you and those players. Make sure to not share accounts when you're punished, because that will only get you into bigger trouble.
Another thing you can do is to see what you did wrong and work on your behaviour. For example, if you were muted for being disrespectful, you should consider thinking twice before sending a message which can be considered disrespectful in the future, just to make sure that you're not accidentally breaking a rule. If you're easily provoked, try using /ignore on the players who provoke you.
Read the rules and talk with the staff. If you have access to discord, staff can provide you good assistance with explaining your punishment and what you did wrong. It's preferred that you do this in private messages if you do want to talk with staff. Make sure you understand the rules thoroughly and don't make the same mistake you were punished for in the first place if you get your appeal accepted. Plan out how your appeal will look like... moving us onto the next tip!
Plan out your appeal
Before submitting your appeal, you should copy the template then answer the questions on a text editor (such as notepad or a google doc). It is recommended that you plan out your appeal before submitting it, because that will give you a good amount of time for you to write up a decent one. You can find links to both templates here, open and answer the one you need.
Question explanations and tips
Which area of New Blood are you permanently [punished] in?
Here, you should put which part of New Blood you're punished from. For example, if you got banned or muted on Zombie Survival, you'd put Zombie Survival here. You can also put Discord here if you were only permanently punished on Discord.
Why were you [punished]?
Try logging in.
If you're banned, put down the ban reason and give some more information if you want to.
If you're muted, do /mynotes and check the reason. Put it here and feel free to include more information in this case as well.
Who [punished] you?
If you were banned, your disconnect message when you try logging on should be something like "Banned by <username> - ...". Put the username here.
If you were muted, doing /mynotes should show something like "Muted by <username> on <date> ...". - Put the username here.
Do you know when you were [punished]?
If you know the time you were banned, put it down here. If not, then explain that you don't know.
If you got muted, check the date in /mynotes and put it here.
Did you evade this [punishment] at all?
Did you evade this [punishment] at all?
Here, be honest. As mentioned above, staff have the necessary tools to determine whether you were evading your punishment or not. If you share the same network as your friends, you should explain this here, because it might be mistaken for evading otherwise. If you have provided information to a staff member in private messages, let this be known.
Why should you [have your punishment lifted]?
Why should you [have your punishment lifted]?
You should explain why you want to have your punishment lifted here. Please make sure to be as informative and detailed as possible. Make something longer than "I want to play again" and go into more detail, because such a simple and short reason is not enough to get your punishment lifted.
What will you change with regards to your behaviour?
This is a very important question. Your answer to this question should be as detailed and as honest as you possibly can. Explain why your actions were wrong. Explain how you plan on changing in the future. Expand on your punishment reason. If you got banned for continuously lag pillaring multiple times, an answer such as "I will stop lag pillaring" will not be enough. Go in detail and be honest.
Submitting your appeal
Once the two weeks have passed and your appeal is finished, make sure you meet all requirements (you can find them for your respective punishment here). After that, create a new thread in the appeals board. Make sure that the thread's title includes something like "Mute Appeal - <username>" or "Ban Appeal - <username>". It doesn't have to follow this specific format, but it is recommended that you include your username and the type of punishment you're appealing in the title.
I hope that this guide will help you on your way to appealing your punishment. If you end up getting denied - consider some of the weak points in your appeal and improve on them. If you end up getting accepted, once again, go over the rules and ensure that you thoroughly understand them in order to not get yourself punished again, because next time your chances of having your next appeal accepted will be significantly reduced. If someone is provoking you or a conversation is starting to get heated, do not respond to the provokations. There are players who will provoke you just because of your previous punishments. Do NOT respond to them, because it will get only you in trouble. Once again, /ignore them and even make a report against them if you think it's necessary. The staff are here to help you.
With all that said, good luck!
